CMYK Magazine #49

This package design was made by Lauren Jonczak for Burleson's Pure Honey. She is a designer from Texas A&M U. I thought that this was an excellent example of award winning design, because it shows that less is more. The horizontal black bars remind me of a honeybee, and the clean typeface and ingredient list certainty suggests purity and is so chic!
This logo was designed by Sameera Kaapila, a designer at Texas State University (in San Marcos Texas) I thought that this was a clever trademark that makesyou smile. I love that the roll of toilet makes up the body of the wiener dog.

This illustration was done by Tyler Schatz of Ringling College of Art and Design, in Sarasota Florida.

This installation piece was designed by Clay Coleman (Ad) and Robyn Milzer (Copy writing) of the Chicago Portfolio School for Money Magazine.

This ad was designed by Jessica Wong the art director of the Miami Ad School in San Francisco CA. It was made for Nike Free, a shoe that I'm not familiar with, but as the ad suggests it certainly must

This ad was made by Dave Thornhill, a copywriter of Humber College in Toronto Ontario. It was designed for Terroni restaurants.

This piece was created by Esteban Izquierdo, an Illustrator at the Miami Ad School in Miami Flordia.

This ad was created by Diego Zelaya, who is a Art Director and Copywriter at the Houston School of Advertising, in Houston Texas. It was made for Uhaul.
This Package design was created by Amy Vo, she is a art director at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco California. The client was Webber Grills.

CMYK Magazine #50

Magazine Cover, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE...this illustration! I think it's an excellent use if typography, and the color (CYM) in the center really make the black (K) pop. Who knew fifty could be drawn so many different ways?
This was done by Felipe Mollica of San Francisco, California. He is the Art Director of Miami Ad School. I thought that this was a really clever ad/poster because it's so simple! I love that that it mainly consists of the 7-11 logo and the price of a Slurpee. I'm sure though, it involved a lot of behind the scenes work. I can't imagine trying to separate the different colors, or working with melting ice shavings. And I bet it was tricky to keep the negative space of eleven clean. It is an excellent example or texture and it was photographed beautifully!
This was created by Hannah Saunders. She is the Art Director of the Chicago Portfolio School. And did this work for Connection for Abused Women and Their Children. I think that this is an excellent example of how design can be used everyday. I think it's a great idea to be able to donate to a great cause with out having to go out of your way. It's a small things that riders can do on their commute. That will make a difference. I really enjoy the poster above the kiosk, and I think the use of purple is fitting, and it makes the buttons stand out.

This poster illustration was done by Theresa Decker of the Tyler School of Art, in Philadelphia PA. For Painstaking Precision: World Barista Championship. I thought this was an excellent Illustration, because of the styling, and the perspective. It reminded me of a project we did in GDS 120 (I believe... it was a poster for the Champaign City Building.) I like that the designer chose to invert the building, and create tension between the drop and the cup.

This book cover was designed by Joshua Davis of Texas A&M University. Lord of the Flies Book Cover. I like it because it's simply a photograph and doesn't require anything else. The embroidery is so cool and really makes a mental connection to the boys in the book. (How the started out so civilized) Also it reminds me of Harry Potter, lol!

This was created by Jon Dufau of California State University. For Pastime packaging. And I thought this was a very clever overall. I appreciate that the designer thought of every detail and really "hit it out of the park." (lol, lame) I like that the Beer bottles look like wood bats, and having them inverted really emphasizes that shape.

Help Remedies

This morning at work I was stocking the pharmacy section and found these simple but quirky packages for generic medicines. They are made by Help Remedies, and I found the photos at Lovely Packaging
